SPAMALOT: A musical based on the motion picture "Monty Python and the Holy Grail", written by Eric Idle and John Du Prez. At the Shubert. A lot of fun! If you are a Python fan this is a must. If not, some of the sillyness will not work for you!
David Hyde Pierce, Hank Azaria, Christopher Sieber, Steve Rosen, and Tim Curry in a scene from SPAMALOT |

THE DROWSY CHAPERONE: A new musical comedy by Bob Martin, Don McKellar, Lisa Lambert & Greg Morrison about a musical from the 1920s. RUN! DON'T WALK! TO THIS SHOW! This is going to be a big hit. It's a very clever spoof of a 1920's vaudeville show. Sutton Foster is excellent. As is the rest of the cast. It begins with our narrator Bob Martin listening to a recording of "Drowsy Chaperone". Pretty soon the musical comes walking through his living room. That's when the fun begins. For my money the best show on Broadway!

| MARY POPPINS: This is a musical based on the stories of P. L. Travers and the 1964 Walt Disney film about the magical nanny Mary Poppins. The musical, which opened in London a couple of years ago, features many of the original songs from the film, along with new songs by George Stites and Anthony Drewe. |

COMPANY: A revival of Stephen Sondheim's 1970 musical about a man trying vainly to connect with others; staged by John Doyle (Sweeney Todd). I liked this show. All the actors are musicians, that play on-stage, when they aren't delivering a line. And it works very well! THE VERTICAL HOUR: A new play by David Hare about a young American war reporter turned academic. Julianne Moore stars.
ALTAR BOYZ: A musical comedy by Gary Adler, Michael Patrick Walker, and Kevin Del Aguila about a Christian boy band. At Dodger Stages. Five great singers and dancers. Very funny. I liked it a lot! Got great reviews! |
  | TALK RADIO: Liev Schreiber stars in a new production of Eric Bogosian's drama about a controversial radio talk show personality. Schreiber is very good. But I thought the material a bit dated.
|
PRELUDE TO A KISS: A revival of Craig Lucas's play about a man whose wife mysteriously swaps souls with an old, dying man. John Mahoney, Annie Parisse, and Alan Tudyk star.
